Inspiration & Experimentation

I was inspired by the movie Frozen for my first idea for Charlie and Emilda. I originally wanted there to be a mother-daughter reunion after so many years apart. This made the plot of the comic complicated but allowed me to try another style. I am glad I had this option as it has taught me more skills that I needed.

This process taught me that it is good to use hand drawn pieces as well as photoshop as just using the latter can make a 2-D image which looks a little boring. Despite this I have learnt how to use photoshop better than before.

Using Illustrator

I watched the tutorial

Working Progress

Final Work

My final piece of work on Illustrator was really interesting. I loved choosing the colour and the easy way of the colouring.Illustrator was an interesting process to use. This was probably mainly due to the fact that I'm not used to using this program. I enjoyed using Illustrator I still prefer Photoshop because I personally feel that everything on Photoshop is easily.

Comic Plan

Aina Bull Head of PHI
Phone Call to Adam Fireglass

"Adam I need you to send your daughter on a mission when she gets her powers"

"Why Aina? She doesn't have any powers and she won't have them"

"Adam she will get her powers soon"

"OK thats what you think but that may not be what happens"

"Look your son has no powers apart from that implant.Your wife is not a hero so the powers skipped a generation.I saw your daughter the other day and her powers are about to emerge. When her powers emerge all hell will break loose"

"How do you know? You can't tell or even look into the future"

"She's got all the signs Adam.Unless you want to be out of the job listen to me.You need to keep an eye on your son because as soon as Emilda gets her powers he will be after her and this will all start in school"

"But......"

"Just do it" <click>

Artist Copies

Crystal Tips and Alistair started out as a british cartoon and went on to become a wordless comic-book. It was created in the 1970's by Hillary Haze.Crystal Tips was still being shown in the 80's whenever there was a five minute gap whenever the children's TV.

I liked doing Crystal Tips & Alistair. I found it tricky but the technique was difficult.I used Crystal Tips because of the simplicity and the typical 70's air that the image gives.Despite it looking simple it is actually a lot more complicated than it looks. The colouring of the image  was difficult as it required a blending technique. I  think it was originally done in paint as it blends seamlessly.
